Mutual consent divorce by video conference

Due to COVID 19, the functioning of the Family Courts is been restricted till 31st May, 2020. Under the Graded Opening of the family courts, the family courts are hearing the matters through video conferencing.  Matters in which both the husband and wife have agreed to separate, the family courts will record their statements, though a decree would be signed and made available to the parties once the courts resume normal working.

Matters would be heard through video-conferencing and cases in which arguments have already been heard and the order has been reserved should be given priority, the committee, headed by Delhi High Court Judge Justice Hima Kohli, resolved.

In Mutual Consent Divorce, the underlying principle is that since two persons can marry by their free will, they should also be allowed to move out of the relationship of their own free will. This is quick, easy and most convenient for both parties.
