Delhi, July 25 – In a significant order, a Delhi court has restrained a woman and her husband from approaching or contacting a local resident, following disturbing allegations that she repeatedly harassed him and pressured him into a sexual relationship.
The case, Mukesh Taneja vs. Nancy Verma & Anr. (CS SCJ 294/25), was heard in the court of the Civil Judge (North), Rohini Courts, where the plaintiff, Mukesh Taneja, alleged that the respondent, Nancy Verma, had been forcing him into physical intimacy against his will. Taneja, a married man, claimed that after their acquaintance at a spiritual ashram, Verma began expressing romantic interest. When he rejected her advances, she allegedly resorted to threats of suicide and began coercing him emotionally and physically.
The suit further states that Verma persistently visited his home, created public disturbances, and used social media to contact his family. Despite repeated attempts to cut off communication, including blocking her on all platforms, the harassment allegedly continued. On multiple occasions, police were called due to her behaviour at the plaintiff’s residence.
Taking note of the material submitted—including chat screenshots and CCTV footage—the court observed that the plaintiff had established a strong prima facie case and was facing serious emotional and reputational harm. It concluded that the acts of the respondent interfered with the plaintiff’s right to live peacefully and amounted to irreparable injury.
The court has passed an interim injunction restraining the defendants from entering or coming within 300 meters of the plaintiff’s property in Vijay Nagar, Delhi. They have also been barred from making any direct or indirect contact with the plaintiff or his family, through any means—including phone calls, social media, or third parties.
The plaintiff was represented by Advocate Divya Tripathi. The court warned that any violation of the restraining order would attract contempt proceedings.
